*LOVE❤️: DIFFERENT FROM ITS COUNTERFEITS.* A counterfeit looks like the original, feels like the original, seems to be the original but it is not. Love has a few counterfeits, bearing some similitude as love, many have been deceived by their snaring glim. *However, an accurate👌🏿 understanding 1 Corinthians 13 makes clear the difference.* Let me tell you about one counterfeit my teacher showed me. First and common amongst them is *LUST, a strong selfish desire to have or possess another*. Lust says “I want it and I want it now”, it says, “I have no patience, satisfy me now and or face my wrath”. *Lust is a cunning counterfeit of love, an example shown to us by biblical Amnon. He never🙁 loved his sister, but cunningly, he lured Tamar into his bosom, and when he was satisfied, his heart brewed anger and hatred towards her, an epic of lust.* Lust wants satisfaction anyway, not minding the cost or consequence. *It selfishly seeks immediate benefit yet denies commitment contrary to love which makes commitment even when there is no immediate benefit*. Oh lust, looks so good, seems so good, feels so strong like love, yet so bitter and grim, yield to it today and you reap grave consequences tomorrow. See Amnon's story for yourself. *“So, how do I know this is lust🤔?” Check the motives, assess the intent, observe the attitudes and patterns and importantly, understand what love is, then you will clearly draw the lines.* Where love is patient, lust is impatient, where love gives wholeheartedly without conditions, lust takes selfishly. When lust says “I want it now and I don’t care how you feel”, love says “I care how you feel, Let’s do it right”. *Love is of God but lust is of the world and its father*. Love pursues holiness and righteousness but lust the contrary. *How can it be love, when immorality is the order of the day🤧? How can it be love when sexual sin is always present, when it is always satisfaction now and not when it’s right?* I don’t think so, don’t let the counterfeit have your heart.
