Mobile network operator NetOne has partnered with the City of Harare to launch a clean-up initiative aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment in the capital. According to NetOne, the collaboration seeks to foster a clean, secure, and sustainable city, aligning with the goals of the national declaration on environmental responsibility.
Meanwhile, Government has convened experts from various sectors in Mutare to develop the country’s National AI Strategy. Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary for ICT, Postal & Courier Services, Dr. Beaullah Chirume, emphasized the need for a strategy that drives progress, equity, and ethical AI development.
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has announced measures that will encourage use of plastic money and bank settlements by maintaining that any transaction less than $5 must not charged. Online payments, Swipes, Tap and Go have seen reduced volumes due to inhibitive transactional charges, hence impacting on e-commerce. Africa’s gaming market surged to $1.8 billion in 2024, driven by mobile games like Candy Crush and Roblox, according to African gaming and digital content publisher Carry1st.
