Word of God for today 📖 Isaiah 1:19-20 “If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land; 20  but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Today we get to understand the importance of having child like dependency on Christ. In the the spiritual realm, there is no in between you’re either for God (kingdom of light) or not (kingdom of darkness) so God extends an invitation to us *“if you’re are willing and obedient”* which then shows us that willingness goes hand in hand with obedience. You can’t be willing and be disobedient. The other thing this text highlights is that God doesn’t force his will upon us but grants you the opportunity or free will to choose, and an understanding of what the choice comes with. Like Peter, some of us tend to ask God the same question Peter asked in the book of a *Mathew 19: 27 - Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”* More like we’ve sacrificed a lot to be here, is this worth it? Is journeying with Christ worth it when you’re seeing your age mates going to the latest big events having fun the worldly way and going against many people labelling you as boring and having to deal with the critics because of you’ve made your choice to stick by Christ, is this Journey of me dying to self each day to follow Christ worth it?? Peter *then asked what then will there be for us? * God provides us with the answer in Isaiah “ you will eat the good things of the Land” we know that obedience is rewarded by God, so you might ask -what are the good things? God isn’t specific about what the good things will be, because he knows that it creates a limitation of who he is and what God can do (tempering with our faith) which takes us back to Exodus when Moses asked who will I say sent me? he said “I AM” With this key understanding, it’s important to understand that willingness and obedience goes hand in hand with Child like dependency. You can’t be obedient if you’re not dependent on him, because what are you dependent on God for? So In closing, God gives an in-depth understanding in Isaiah 2:22 “Stop trusting in mere humans,
who have but a breath in their nostrils.
Why hold them in esteem?” Many people tend to put their trust in other people, especially well established people. If they can be connected to those people they’d be far in life forgetting that it’s the favour and presence of God that progresses us. God asks us why your trust is in people who has the same Godly attribute (breathe) as you? Now God warns us about trusting people who are like us because they can’t grant you eternal life nor anything extraordinary or far beyond what God can give you
