*Spiritual Blindness*
Scripture
2 Kings 7:3-7, "Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, 'Why stay here until we die? If we say, "We'll go into the city"—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let's go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare our lives, we will live; if they kill us, then we will die.' So they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, they found no one there, for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, 'Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!' So they got up and fled in the evening, abandoning their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left everything and ran for their lives."
Reflection
The four lepers in 2 Kings 7 were suffering from spiritual blindness, unable to see the provision that God had made for them. They were so focused on their own circumstances and limitations that they couldn't perceive the miracle that God had worked on their behalf.
This is often the case with us as well. We can get so caught up in our own problems and challenges that we forget to look for God's provision and guidance. We can become spiritually blind, unable to see the miracles that God is working in our lives.
Additional Scripture
- Psalm 119:18, "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law."
- Luke 24:31, "Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight."
Prayer
Dear Lord, help me to see beyond my circumstances and limitations. Give me eyes to perceive Your provision and guidance in my life. Help me to trust in Your sovereignty and to have faith that You are always working, always creating, and always guiding me.
Action Step
Take a few minutes to reflect on your current circumstances. Are there any areas where you feel spiritually blind, unable to see God's provision and guidance? Write down your concerns and fears, and then ask God to open your eyes to see the wonderful things He is doing in your life.
Questions for Reflection
- What are some areas of my life where I feel spiritually blind?
- How can I ask God to open my eyes to see His provision and guidance?
- What are some biblical examples of spiritual blindness that can encourage me to seek God's guidance and provision?
