Indeed we belong to Allāh
Allāh سبحانه وتعالى says,
“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient. Those who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allāh and indeed to Him we shall return.””
[Qur’ān: Al-Baqarah: verses no.155-156]
Ibn Abee Zamaneen (d.399AH) رحمه الله mentioned,
“Indeed we belong to Allāh” – meaning, us and our wealth belong to Allāh and we are His servants, He does what He wishes with us, meaning, He does that which is for our betterment and goodness.
“And indeed to Him we shall return” – meaning, we affirm and believe (with certainty) that He will resurrect us, and He will reward us for our belief (in that) and due to our patience with the tests and trials He tested us with (in the life of this world).
