The Cayman Islands has strengthened homeownership opportunities with the Stamp Duty (Rates of Duty) Regulations, 2025, now in effect. These changes expand stamp duty concessions for Caymanian buyers across all districts and increase property value thresholds for exemptions. 🏡
First-time Caymanian buyers now pay no stamp duty on properties up to $550,000, with a 3.75% rate applied to amounts between $550,000 and $650,000. Second-time Caymanian buyers benefit from a 3.75% rate on properties valued at $600,000 or less.
Premier Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly welcomed the amendments, stating they are “positive for Caymanian people”, ensuring greater access to property ownership.
