IMO working group fails to achieve consensus on GHG levy Last week’s meeting at the IMO by the Inter-sessional Working Group (ISWG-GHG) failed to reach a consensus required to reduce the cost gap between fossil and low carbon fuels.
The IMO’s 83rd Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 83) is due to take place in the second week of April and is meant to establish an agreed method for carbon charging before MEPC 84, from October 13-17, where final details are concluded. Meeting this timetable is now very tight with MEPC just six weeks away.
