The Star’s fact-check project is back and every week until election day on Feb. 27, Star reporters will monitor, track, record and correct (where needed) the three leading provincial party leaders on the campaign trail. Starting with Liberal party Leader Bonnie Crombie, who was mostly truthful but got some statistics wrong in a few of her major campaign talking points. Out of 40 claims the Star tracked in Crombie’s first week campaigning, she stretched the truth or lacked enough context that it painted an incomplete picture six times. Crombie also cited a total of nine falsehoods — including one false statement that outright misrepresented a key health-care statistic that’s plastered on the side of her big red campaign bus touring the province. https://www.thestar.com/politics/provincial-elections/bonnie-crombie-fact-check/article_3e0b68fc-e4c1-11ef-9077-c3591e79629d.html
