Cde Robert Gumbo, former Manicaland Province Political Commissar, former Vice Provincial Chair of the Ruling ZANU PF Party, and esteemed War Veteran, passed away today at St Anne's Hospital in Harare. Cde Gumbo's legacy is etched in the fabric of our Ntion. He played a pivotal role during tumultuous times, facilitating the escape of the late Founding Father of Independent Great Republic of Zimbabwe Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Cde Edgar Tekere to Mozambique, aided by the late Chief Rekayi Tangwena. His courage and commitment to our cause were unparalleled. Having served as Mutare City Council Commissioner after the sacking of Mayor Mr Kagurabadza, Cde Gumbo's contributions were invaluable.
