refuting-praise-for-gen-traorè-a-call-for-reflection _On the fast lane to 2030 by Maxwell Haitengeswinyika Teedzai_ *EDITORIAL* ```It’s astonishing to see praise heaped upon President Traorè, the de facto leader of Burkina Faso, despite the clear dissent within his political ranks. Critics label him as incompetent and demand his resignation for the sake of democratic reforms. This mirrors the unjust criticisms hurled at our own President Mnangagwa, who, despite his historic Statesmanship, is often painted with the same brush of disdain. While Gen Traorè's regime is viewed through a lens of skepticism by his own people who should be standing hand-in-glove with him, we should ask why we hold such double standards. Here in the Great Republic of Zimbabwe, we have a Leader actively working to transform our Nation from the ground up, modernizing and industrializing in ways previously unseen. Yet, we find ourselves celebrating Leaders from other nations while casting shadows over our own. What is it about us, as Zimbabweans, that leads us to praise foreign leaders while disparaging our own? We rallied for change during the Mugabe era, and when President Mnangagwa stepped in, we celebrated his ascendance. Now, the same voices that once cheered him are calling for his departure. This cyclical criticism reveals a deeper issue within our society. It’s clear that the problems in our country (if we have any at all) do not solely lie with our Leaders but rather with the mindset of those being led. We must confront this reality: our Nation’s progress hinges on our collective support and engagement. If we continue to undermine our Leadership, we risk stalling the very advancements we seek. Let us reflect on our actions and choices as citizens. Instead of looking outward for validation, we should unite to support our own Leadership in its efforts to uplift the Great Republic of Zimbabwe. Together, we can build the future we aspire to see—a future where we stand proud of our Nation and its Leaders.``` #greatrepublicofzimbabwe #unityinleadership #supportourown #movingforwardtogether #vision2030
