Many people who are retiring now and were working in the 90s were not really interested in the retirement conversation because just any day past the age of 40 was considered a gift so why waste time planning for a time you were statistically unlikely to ever see. However times have changed, we have now risen way past President Kaunda's peak life expectancy and survival rates of 1980 and now 61% of men and 71% of women are living to 65 Years so it is highly likely that you will live to see 65 and longer and by 2050 we are talking about living to 75 years. It is therefore important to start looking at Life after 60 (the current retirement age) because not only are you highly likely to get to 60 but you are now likely to live 1 to 2 decades past 65. So it's important to have a plan for life in that time because it will be a miserable end if you don't start planning for it now.
