What is a Cooling System in a Car?
The main function of a cooling system is to manage your car engine’s temperature, which tends to rise due to internal combustion.
Coolant in this system flows through the passage in an engine, absorbing heat from combustion. After traveling through multiple channels, this coolant returns to the radiator.
This is where it loses heat and returns to a cooler temperature with the help of an air stream.
The system is made up of several components, including:
1. Coolant: A liquid that absorbs heat from the engine and carries it to the radiator. Coolant is usually a mixture of water and antifreeze.
2. Radiator: A component that loses heat to the outside environment through air moving through its fins.
3. Cooling fans: Help dissipate heat when the car is stationary or moving at low speeds.
4. Hoses and pipes: Carry the coolant through the system.
The cooling system works by circulating coolant through the engine, where it absorbs heat, then returning it to the radiator to release it. This process repeats continuously while the car is being driven.
