In Judges 16:1--6, we see that even in Samson, a man anointed and used of GOD, separated unto GOD even before his birth, the battle of life raged. NO ONE ESCAPES THE BATTLE OF TEMPTATION IN LIFE. Satan began to speak to Samson through his physical passions when he saw and desired a Philistine woman. Satan's purpose was to destroy Samson's testimony and effectiveness for GOD, to destroy his life and all of the plans GOD had for him. In spite of GOD'S warnings, Samson's sinful appetites took over. His rebellious nature caused him to turn his back on GOD and go the way of his fleshly desires. This is what the battle of life is all about: Between the law of GOD and the law of man's sinful nature. Sex was Samson's weakness. Satan never attacks where we are strong. He always moves in where he has a better chance in those established, proven areas of weakness in our lives. Samson began to commit adultery with Delilah until she had him under her thumb. The Philistines knew Delilah could get Samson to reveal the secret of his spiritual strength and with that knowledge they could then defeat him. Samson was in bondage to his sin and in bondage to his enemies, chained and rendered blind spiritually as well as physically [vs.21]. As the Bible tells us: "To whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey" [Romans 6:16]. If we play with sin, we break the spiritual law of GOD. We become the servants and slaves to sin. This is what happened to Samson.
