FEBRUARY 12 Life Gems *GENUINELY REPENT* *Spotlight* : Acts 3 verse 19 – Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, There is a problem that is common with some ‘believers’. It is lack of genuine repentance. When a believer has not genuinely (truly) repented, he keeps falling into sin over and over. As a matter of fact, in human relationships, your ‘I am sorry’ has no impact if afterwards you do the same thing over and over. If saying sorry and doing the same wrong thing could be displeasing to man, how much more to God? When you sin against God, don’t behave as if nothing happened. Go to God in soberness and ask for mercy. Spend time with God so that He can help you understand why you fell into that temptation and what to do if that temptation surfaces in future. Kindly note that any temptation you succumbed to now will surely be presented to you by the devil in the future whether you pray against it or not. Your prayer can help you to be sensitive to detect it early and avoid it. God is so loving that He is not just giving us a command to live holy but He is also interested in guiding us on how to overcome temptations and live holy. These are usually given to as many believers who care to ask Him to help them. Don’t just say ‘God I am sorry’ and walk away. Search your heart so that you can arrive at some decisions.
