FEBRUARY 18 Life Gems *JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD* *Spotlight* : John 10 verse 11 – “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. When you hear the term shepherd, what comes readily to mind is one who takes care of flock of animals especially sheep. He gives his time, attention, resources to see to the well-being of the sheep not necessarily because he loves the sheep. There is usually a motivation in his heart to do those things for the sheep and that is the wool, meat, milk, money etc. he can get from the sheep when the sheep is fully grown. Jesus on the other hand is not just a shepherd, but a Good Shepherd who cares for the sheep (the church)not necessarily because of what He will gain from the church but out of a sacrificial love of laying down His life (John 10 verse 15). Jesus’ love and care for you is not because of your money or whatever you have but a commitment to see you become all God originally plans you to become in God’s kingdom. Having Jesus as your Good Shepherd is the best that can happen to you because you are completely safe in His hands. He can’t sacrifice you for any reason unlike a shepherd that can pick up the fattest sheep and sacrifice it for a need he wants to meet. Trust your life in Jesus’ hands and He will mould you into who God wants you to be. Jesus the good shepherd does not just want to use you and dump you, He wants to make you. So, follow His voice and obey Him completely without complaints from now on. *Word Feast* : John 10 verses 11 – 16; 15 verses 13 – 15; Psalm 23 verses 1 – 6. *Prayer* : Jesus the good shepherd, I trust my life in Your hands.
