FEBRUARY 20 Life Gems *WHAT ARE YOU DOING?* *Spotlight* : Ecclesiastes 9 verse 10 – Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. From creation, God made man and gave him a work to do – to tend the garden. Tending the garden may not necessarily bring money to him but it keeps his mind engaged in something useful. God came to commune with him at that same garden He placed him to take care of. Moses in Exodus 3 took up an assignment of taking care of the flock of his father –in-law Jethro. Even though Jethro took the fleeing Moses and accommodated him, he sought for what to do in the house of Jethro. Do you know that it was in the course of that assignment that he encountered the burning bush? Gideon in Judges 6, despite the harassment of the Midianites found a way to get himself engaged with something useful. He was visited by an angel while he threshed wheat by the winepress. The oppression of the Midianite was enough to make him withdraw and not do anything. What about Zechariah in Luke 1? He went to discharge his duties as a priest and was divinely visited. Never fold your hands doing nothing. You need to understand that what you do may not have immediate financial reward but if that is what is legitimately available, ask God for grace and do it. Teaching your children for instance may not have a financial reward but put in your best and do it. What you should never entertain in your life is idleness. Most times God won’t communicate to you when you are idle. In fact, it is the devil’s voice that you will hear more when you are idle. Get yourself engaged with both spiritual work and physical work. When a physical work is not available, channel the energy and increase your spiritual work. *Word Feast* : Exodus 3 verse 1 – 4; Judges 6 verses 11 – 14; Luke 1 verses 5 – 17. *Prayer* : Lord, I receive Your grace today to apply diligence and apply it correctly in Jesus name, Amen. *Action Point* : Engage in spiritual and physical work. *Drill* : What should you not entertain in your life? *BIOY* : Leviticus 25; Luke 7.
