Water infection? Think Pharmacy First. Women aged 16 to 64 years can get treatment for a urinary tract infection (sometimes known as a water infection) at most local pharmacies, without needing to see a GP. Symptoms may include: ➡️ pain or a burning sensation when peeing ➡️ needing to pee more often than usual ➡️ needing to pee more often than usual during the night ➡️ needing to pee suddenly or more urgently than usual ➡️ pee that looks cloudy You’ll be seen in a private consultation room at your pharmacy or via video link if using an internet pharmacy. The pharmacist can provide NHS medicines, if appropriate. Some restrictions apply, if your pharmacist is unable to provide treatment following your consultation, they may refer you to a GP or other health professional. This is one of seven common conditions that can be treated by your pharmacist through the Pharmacy First scheme.
