THANKS DOC! A huge thank you to everyone working in our GP Practices. New data shows GP Practices in Nottingham and Notts provided over 7.8 MILLION appointments in 2024 - an increase of more than 430,000 on the previous year. GP Practices in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire continue to work extremely hard to meet increasing demand for appointments. A range of healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, nurses and social prescribers now work as part of GP Practice teams. Depending on your needs, you may be offered an appointment with one of these specialists, providing the most appropriate care as quickly as possible. And many practices now allow you to book appointments online or by using the NHS app, as well as by phone. While most appointments are still face-to-face, you may also be offered an online or telephone appointment, when appropriate, which some people find better to fit in around work and other commitments. Find out more about the different ways of booking an appointment and our bigger practice teams 👇

Earache? Think Pharmacy First. Children and young people aged 1 to 17 can get treatment for earache at most local pharmacies, without needing to see a GP. Earache and ear pain is common, particularly in young children. It can affect one or both ears. Most earaches in children are caused by an ear infection, which usually start to improve after a few days. Signs that your child has earache may mean they: ➡️ rub or pull their ear ➡️ are irritable or restless ➡️ are off their food You’ll be seen in a private consultation room at your pharmacy. The pharmacist can prescribe NHS medicines, if appropriate, or refer you to a GP or other health professional. This is one of seven common conditions that can be treated by your pharmacist through the Pharmacy First scheme. Find out more at https://notts.icb.nhs.uk/your-services/community-pharmacy/

🦠Norovirus cases are currently high ⬆️ Symptoms include feeling sick, vomiting and diarrhoea. If you think you have norovirus, you should stay at home for 48 hours after symptoms clear. ❗Please do not visit anyone in hospital while you have any symptoms of cold, flu, diarrhoea and vomiting❗ You can usually treat yourself or your child at home. The most important thing is to rest and have lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. You will usually start to feel better in 2 to 3 days. Water infection? Think Pharmacy First. Symptoms may include: ➡️ pain or a burning sensation when peeing ➡️ needing to pee more often than usual ➡️ needing to pee more often than usual during the night ➡️ needing to pee suddenly or more urgently than usual ➡️ pee that looks cloudy You’ll be seen in a private consultation room at your pharmacy or via video link if using an internet pharmacy.
