GARISSA COUNTY, KENYA THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2025 On Day three of the North Eastern Development tour, joined President William Samoei Ruto on an inspection of the ongoing construction works of a new runway at the Garissa Airstrip to upgrade it to an international airport to facilitate trade and turnaround the North Eastern region’s economic fortunes. The affordable and social housing programme is underway across the Country, to avail decent dwellings for citizens and create jobs across the construction value chain. In Garissa County, construction of 408 housing units is in progress. The President also inspected ongoing works of the Mother and Child Unit at the Garissa Level Five Teaching and Referral Hospital, commissioned the Garissa High School steam cooking carbon asset infrastructure and launched the construction of Tana River bridge and approach roads.
