*DID CHRIST PAY FOR THE SINS OF EVERY HUMAN BEING?*
We thank the Lord for yet another beautiful Lord's Day. The Bible is God's book. On different occasions, we read the Bible and think that we understand what the Bible is saying. The Bible is not an easy book to understand, but the biblical rule is that we compare spiritual with spiritual. Sometimes we have to look at so many places in the Bible before we can say for sure we have found a true biblical conclusion.
It is a biblical principle that we do not arrive at a biblical conclusion, until we look at that conclusion in the light of the whole Bible. God wrote the Bible so that we can easily be misled. In other words God wrote the Bible to test whether we are listening to the whole Bible.
In our study together today, by God's mercy, we hope to show from the Bible how Jesus paid for the sins of those he came to save and not necessarily every human being on the face of the planet.
Come with me:
In John chapter 6 the Bible clearly states:
John 6:37-39 (KJV) *"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.*
*For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.*
*And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day."*
Again in John chapter 17 the Bible insists:
John 17:9 (KJV) *"I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine."*
Whenever we are looking at God, we are looking at a God of law. A God who follows the laws and commandments of the Bible.
If God has paid for the sins of an individual, then it will be an impossibility for that individual to come under the wrath of God, because that would be double jeopardy. It would mean that the person was suffering the second time. Their sins had already been paid for and now they had to pay for their sins again. That would be total violation of the integrity and the laws of God.
As a matter of fact, the Bible is very clear that hell will be heavily populated. In Matthew chapter 22 the Bible clearly states: Matthew 22:14 (KJV) *"For many are called, but few are chosen."* In Revelation chapter 20 the Bible declares again: Revelation 20:15 (KJV) *"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."*
This clearly indicates that there are great number of individuals whose sins had never been paid for.
Wonderfully, God has given us a copy of his law book. That's what the Bible is. The Bible is the law book that God follows, so that we need not to be surprised at what God does. God has given us a copy of the law He follows, so that we can search out how God is going to conduct Himself in the light of these laws. That's one of the reasons, by God's mercy, I encourage the world every Lord's Day to search the Bible out, learn all we can from it and to get acquainted with it. That way, we know how God will follow through up until the end of this world and eternity future.
So, let's have it at the back of our minds that the idea that is often being propagated by the do-it-yourself theology that Jesus paid for the sins of everyone is not coming from the Bible, but out of the minds of men.
Lord, could it be that Christ will pay for our sins. Amen.
