*Akin Adeyi Commiserates With Osun PDP Members, describes Governor Adeleke's Recent Actions as Unbecoming.*
Mr. Akin Adeyi, a senior chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State, has expressed sympathy with the ruling, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun chapter, over the unforeseen, undeserved disappointment, humiliation, and shame they suffered on Sunday at the hands of their leader, the governor of the state, Mr. Ademola Adeleke.
According to the public analyst, Governor Adeleke's propensity for evading, disappointing, and humiliating his party members, as seen during last Sunday at the Government House, Oke fia, Osogbo, is unbecoming of a governor.
The major opposition chieftain said it was at the governor's invitation that all party leaders, members, and supporters assembled in their large numbers at the Governor's Lodge, Oke Fia, Osogbo. “They came in their private cars and chattered buses from their respective local government areas. They were invited to witness the swearing-in ceremony of the party's newly elected chairmen and councilors. It was a moment of unbridled joy for the unsuspecting members. The ceremony remained jubilant until the time governor announced in his official address that the newly inaugurated officials should not resume for works at their respective local government council secretariats , instead, they should remain in their various houses“.
“This announcement reverberated through the crowded space like a thunderstorm, dampening the crowd's previously elevated spirits. All music and dance stopped and tongues began to wag. Discussions began, irritability increased, and numerous questions arose. "So, the councils are truly not vacant as APC insists ?" "Which means we have been misled?" “Yes, we’ve been scammed by the governor” the dejected members were quoted as saying.
The previously jubilant crowd began dispersing en masse, with tear-stained faces and heads bowed in shame and regrets . It finally dawned on them that the governor was merely exploiting their loyalty to maintain party unity for his future political leverage, Adeyi said.
Adeyi offered sympathies to the Osun PDP membership for the unjustified humiliation, squandering of resources, and time lost due to the governor's actions. "He has exploited them with the charade election which even led to loss of lives and comical swearing-in ceremony”.
However, Akin Adeyi urged the PDP members to extract wisdom from this regrettable incident to guide their future choices on who to follow next as their leader and the party to pitch their support for. "Once deceived, twice cautious" Adeyi warned.
Lastly, Akin Adeyi, who regards the Adelekes as political opportunists, foresees the Adelekes' imminent defection to another political party, which will be executed without prior notification or established arrangement that will ensure the retention of their current followers. "They should prepare for this eventuality to reduce the impact of the shock."
