DAVIES CHAMA IS SPEAKING AS SOMEONE BOUGHT OR IN FEAR OF LOSING SOMETHING BIG
Good morning.
Mr Davies Chama likes to make himself sound like a reasonable opposition politician. But he is not.
As he has done on many occasions since the Patriotic Front (PF) left office, Mr Chama has tried to portray himself as being different in thinking from all others with whom he served in the precious government. This he has done largely for self preservation.
It is curious that he was Defence Minister, but has escaped any mention in any of the cases of alleged misconduct so far made public. Was he a sleeping Minister of Defence? Anyway, the future will tell.
But it appears Mr Davies Chama now believes he is the only teflon former PF leader, and now feels confident to dish out his half-baked views on serious subjects, such as political alliances.
He is quoted as saying the PF needed to undergo a healing process before joining any alliances.
In facetious fashion, Mr Davies Chama says because the PF was too divided to be part of any alliance, he did not personally want to be part of any alliance.
"I have always said we need to come together in order to protect PF, that is why you have never heard me going to this and that or that alliance," Mr Davis Chama is quoted as saying.
All he said is self-serving rubbish by a man trying very hard to ingratiate himself with a vicious regime in power, that is crushing everyone who fails to denounce the previous government.
Here is how you know Mr Davis Chama is spewing out drivel. Political alliances are not only made by parties enjoying absolute unity. And there is ample evidence of this from the alliances that coalesced to contest the 2021 elections.
Opportunistic Nevers Mumba was in a tussle with a faction of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) when he went into the United Party for National Development (UPND) alliance, while the other faction went the other way. One half of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Josephs Akafumba, went to the UPND alliance, while the party's other half, led by Saboi Imboela went the other way.
So, Mr Davies Chama should just face his demons and not attempt to fool people that the positions he has taken since PF left office are based on principle. They are based entirely on his fear of being targeted by the vindictive government of Outgoing Dictator Hakainde Hichilema, as has been former President Edgar Lungu and others.
Mr Davies Chama should therefore face his fears. What precious thing has he lost before, which makes him so fearful as to force him to make such stupid statements?
Have a conscience.
