NSHP BUILDS ON LANDS BELONGING TO BENEFICIARIES Prime Minister Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness has stated that the New Social Housing Programme does not reclaim houses from beneficiaries. The Prime Minister said that potential beneficiaries must show proof of ownership of the land on which houses are to be built or approval from landowners for the use of the land for at least 40 years. Based on these requirements, the Administration no longer has any rights to the housing units once they have been officially handed over. Prime Minister Holness noted that as a result of this process, the Administration cannot reclaim the houses and has never done so. He was speaking during an NSHP handing over ceremony in Westmoreland on Friday (February 7).
