Ms Bongi Mtlokwa, SACAA Safety Management Systems Technical Officer, stressed the importance of building a robust safety culture within the general aviation sector.
As Chairperson of the ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization Safety Management Panel, she powerfully stated, "Safety starts with you.”
Ms Motlokwa urged everyone in the sector to engage with available resources and integrate them into operations.
She emphasised the importance of reporting and highlighted the protections that exist as it pertains to the reporter and the reported information.

Law enforcement officers conducted compliance inspections, vehicle roadworthiness checks, and enforced transport regulations.
The operation also focused on detecting and addressing offenses such as overloading, unroadworthy vehicles, unlicensed drivers, and the transportation of illegal goods.

■Couple abandon baby in Verulam CBD

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out the Verulam Bus Rank on Ireland Street in the Verulam CBD - KZN after receiving reports of an abandoned baby in a bush today.
Reaction Officers met with the caller who stated that they heard a baby crying in the dense bush between the R102 and the bus rank.
They assumed that the child was abandoned and contacted the RUSA Operations Centre before they entered the bush.
They noticed the child on the ground and a couple having sex several metres away.
The couple grabbed the baby and fled onto the R102 after the group announced themselves.
Reaction Officers searched for the couple, but were unable to locate them....
