Update on the Pope's health, February 28, 2025* Early this afternoon, after a morning of alternating respiratory physiotherapy with prayer in the chapel, the Holy Father had an isolated bronchospasm crisis, which, however, led to an episode of vomiting with inhalation and a sudden worsening of his respiratory condition. The Holy Father was rapidly bronchoaspirated and non-invasive mechanical ventilation was started, with a good response in gas exchange. The Holy Father remained alert and oriented at all times, cooperating with the therapeutic maneuvers. Therefore, the definitive prognosis remains guarded.
