*Richmond burglaries* There has a concentration of burglary offences in the Kew and East Sheen areas over the last 4 weeks. In addition to existing crime prevention advice, we have been holding meetings with crime prevention officers regarding the emerging use of jamming equipment to disrupt wifi based security alarms. This is an issue both across London and nationally, and there is work currently underway across policing and the alarm industry to resolve this issue. The current advice we have received is that wherever possible, alarm stations should be linked physically via Ethernet cable to internet routers. Sensors, especially those on access points should also be physically hardwired into the alarm system to prevent attempts to disrupt the wireless signal between sensor and base alarm. The use of jamming equipment is a specialist technology, and its use has only been evidenced in a very limited number of offences, however its use appears to be increasing. Any further information we receive will be shared at the earliest opportunity.
