ALERT: The Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been closed down since last evening for all sorts of traffic, officials from both countries told The Khorasan Diary. UPDATE: Pakistan has closed Torkham gate for all movements including trade since 10 pm of last night, when the Afghan forces were constructing a new border post who were asked to stop, Afghanistan Commissioner Abdul Jabar Hikmat confirmed. Staff from the border Terminal on Pakistan’s side was shifted to Landikotal as a precautionary measure of any escalation, a Pakistani Customs official said. The Afghan border police commander said " Pakistani side had requested us to stop the construction close to the border” There were large number of people stranded on both sides of the border.
