Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain and causes seizures. A seizure happens when there's a sudden burst of electrical activity in the brain, which can cause changes in movement, behaviour, or awareness. It's more common than you might think, and with the right care and support, people with epilepsy can live healthy, fulfilling lives.
The signs of epilepsy can vary, but here are some things to look out for:
1️⃣ Repeated seizures or unusual movements that are hard to explain.
Episodes of confusion or unresponsiveness.
2️⃣ Staring spells that last for a few seconds or longer.
3️⃣ Sudden jerking or twitching in parts of the body.
4️⃣ Loss of consciousness or collapse.
If you notice these signs, it's important to consult a doctor for proper testing and diagnosis.
This International Epilepsy Day, let's raise awareness, learn more, and support those living with epilepsy.
Together, we can break the stigma and build understanding.
