Today, I want to talk about something that affects millions of people but is never questioned - how the capitalist system has made people believe that fair skin is better than dark skin, just so they can sell their products. This system has created discrimination, racism, and insecurity in society, especially for dark-skinned women.
From childhood, we see advertisements where a dark-skinned person is shown as sad, struggling in life. But the moment they use a fairness cream, suddenly, they become confident and successful. These companies are playing with people’s minds. They first make us feel that dark skin is a problem, and then they sell fairness creams as the solution. And people fall for this trap.
In India, this problem is even worse. When a girl reaches marriage age, families first ask, ‘Is she fair-skinned?’ If she is dark, she faces rejection or is forced to pay a higher dowry. Even educated, talented, and independent women are judged for their skin color. This is not a ‘preference’—this is discrimination. Society treats dark skin as a flaw, while fairness is seen as a qualification. But who taught people this? The same capitalist system that only cares about profit.
And this is not just an Indian problem—it is global. In many countries, dark-skinned people face racism every day. They struggle more to get jobs, respect, and fair treatment. The capitalist system promotes the idea that fair skin means power and dark skin means weakness. But this is a complete lie.
It’s time to stop supporting this mindset. It’s time to reject fairness creams and stop treating fair skin as superior. Beauty is not about skin color. A person’s value is not decided by fairness. Society needs to wake up and stop falling into the trap of these greedy companies. If we don’t change our thinking now, future generations will continue to suffer under this unfair system.
