*From Newsrooms to Parliament: How Drama and Distraction Are Destroying Indian Democracy:* Indian news channels, which were once meant to inform people with real facts, have now turned into dramatic reality shows filled with noise, propaganda, and scripted debates. Instead of discussing real issues like unemployment, inflation, and farmers' struggles, these debates focus on creating fights between panelists, pushing government narratives, and spreading hate among communities. The role of media is to hold the powerful accountable, but today, many news channels act as their cheerleaders, distracting people from real problems. Some of these channels have even started using dangerous language that divides society, much like how the radio in Rwanda was used to spread hatred before the genocide. While India has not reached that extreme, the pattern is alarming. People need to understand that these debates are designed to manipulate their emotions rather than inform them. The more people fall for these tricks, the easier it becomes for those in power to rule without accountability. Instead of blindly believing everything shown on TV, people should question what is being said, why certain issues are ignored, and who benefits from this constant drama. At the same time, the Indian Parliament, which should be the center of democracy, is turning into a meaningless institution. Parliament was created so that elected representatives could debate and solve people’s problems, but today, it has become a stage for useless arguments, shouting matches, and distractions. Instead of discussing important laws, MPs spend their time fighting over unnecessary topics while the real problems of common people remain ignored. Laws are passed without proper debate, and the government pushes its decisions without any resistance. The opposition, which should question the government, often fails to do its job effectively. This has made Parliament look like a rubber stamp rather than a place where real decisions are made. When the Parliament becomes weak, democracy starts to lose its meaning. If elected leaders no longer solve problems, and if people’s voices are not heard, then what is left of democracy? People must realize that if they stay silent while their institutions are being destroyed, then they are allowing those in power to rule without any accountability. Awareness is the only way to fight this decline because a country where both media and Parliament lose their value is a country moving towards danger.
