One of the many commands and prohibitions found in surah al-Hujurat [49] is Allah's statement: [وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا ] "And do not spy on one another" [12] Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari began his explanation of this statement by saying: Allah's statement, "And do not spy on one another" Allah is saying: Do not go looking for the faults of one another or dig into their secrets in an effort to bring their faults to light. Instead, content yourself with the outward appearance that a person displays to you and commend or criticize them based on that, not based on their hidden matters which you do not know.
