Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) denied claims of plans to remove Chinese characters from Jalan Petaling signboards. DBKL clarified that the installed signboards comply with existing guidelines and policies. It stated that no plans exist to alter or remove the Chinese script, dismissing the allegations as untrue.
DBKL emphasised that signboard decisions follow the Federal Territory Advertisement By-laws 1982, considering heritage, culture, and community needs. Any changes would undergo careful review. Urging the public not to believe unfounded claims, DBKL reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining Kuala Lumpur as an inclusive city that respects cultural diversity and heritage.
