Before you harvest the fish from the pond, you should know where you will sell your fish. Depending on your market it might not be possible to sell all your fish at the same time. If this is the case it is possible you harvest only part of the pond. This is called a partial or continuous harvesting strategy. You can use Harper or scooping nets to remove some fish the rest will remain for the next harvest. If there are fewer fish left in that pond there is possibility that there may become too stressed or frightened to eat. The remaining fish may not respond to the feeding, leading to slower growth, susceptibility to disease outbreak and higher FCR, including mortality. If you are lucky enough and the market allow you to sell all your fish at a go, it will free up space for the next stocking and again it will make new production circle faster. You need a reliable sales planning to sell your fish at premium market price Please note that there is a difference between *Farm Gate price* and *Market Price* Farmer sell at Farm Gate price from their farm and marketers, Middleman and fishmongers sell at market price. A farmer can sell at market price but a marketer or fishmonger cannot sell at Farm Gate price. *Before you stock those fish have you found buyers or potential buyers?* It is very important to get ready buyers even before you plan to stock fish this will prevent panic sales and loss. Do well to rely on your consultant or fish farmers network in your region to link us with potential buyers.
