*LIVING WORD DEVOTIONAL* _By Pastor Mensa Otabil_ Tuesday 11th February 2025 *YOU SHALL BE A BLESSING* *Scripture Reading:* Genesis 12 > _I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. *Genesis 12:2*_ God’s call to Abraham came as an instruction for Abraham to obey. The Lord directed Abraham to leave the world he had known all his life to a new world he did not know. But that was not all. God’s call also came with His promise. The Lord made commitments to Abraham. - *I will make you.* That is the first promise God gave to Abraham. The Lord, who calls us, is also our Maker. He promised to make Abraham into the kind of person He had called him to be. God does not call us and leave us to make ourselves into what He wants us to be. The Lord gets involved in our transformation. He promised to make Abraham into a great nation and also make his name great. Abraham left Ur of the Chaldeans as a citizen of a nation. The Lord promised to give him far more than what he was leaving behind. His obedience made him a great nation. That nation’s greatness was due to its redemptive role in human history. - *I will bless you.* This is what God would do for Abraham if Abraham would allow the Lord to transform him. God’s blessing makes us full. After God has moulded us into what He wants us to be, He fills our lives with Himself. In leaving his land, God was emptying Abraham of his old life. However, in obeying the Lord, he would be filled with much more of God’s goodness. The Lord, who empties us, also makes us full. - *You will be a blessing.* God assured Abraham that he would be so full of blessings that blessings would flow out of him to touch others. When the Lord blesses us, He also makes us channels of blessings. He gives us so much that we can give to others. Like Abraham, God is calling us to follow Him. He also promises us that if we follow Him, He will make us and bless us. *Prayer:* _Heavenly Father, You are my Maker. Make me into the person You want me to be. Do something great with my life. In Jesus’ name, *Amen.*_
