The MRP President Yesterday, Tuesday, 28th January 2025, a significant event took place in Plumtree town, marking a pivotal moment in the struggle for cultural preservation and educational equality. At Phakamani High School, a group of courageous learners boldly refused to be taught in the Shona language, sparking a wave of resistance that is set to spread throughout Mthwakazi. An audio recording (2 minutes 28 seconds) captures the defiant voices of Phakamani High School pupils as they challenge the distorted history being presented to them. Listen to their courageous stance [audio is attached herewith]. This act of defiance was not an isolated incident, but rather a direct result of the revolutionary teachings of the Mthwakazi Republic Party's Youth League, led by Mqondisi Moyo. Through a series of transformative workshops conducted in the Plumtree district and rural areas, the Youth League has been empowering the youth with a sense of pride in their cultural heritage and identity. The rebellion was ignited by the false teachings and deliberate Zanufied Historical ideology contained in the Zimbabwean Secondary Schools' heritage studies. A Shona lady teacher, systematically imposed at the school, was teaching the learners this skewed version of history, perpetuating a narrative that undermined the rich cultural tapestry of Mthwakazi. It was through her imposition and indoctrination that the students felt a deep sense of disconnect and indignation, sparking a collective refusal to be complicit in the erasure of their true heritage. As the youth of Mthwakazi stood united against the tide of misinformation and cultural subjugation, the call for authenticity and empowerment rang louder than ever. The MRP's mission of reclaiming the educational narrative and demanding the removal of Shona teachers from Mthwakazi schools now carried an even greater urgency and significance. The workshops conducted by the Youth League served as incubators of resistance and enlightenment, nurturing a generation of young minds determined to rewrite the narrative of their people. Through education and empowerment, they embarked on a journey towards self-discovery and cultural reclamation, armed with the knowledge that their voices were powerful catalysts for change. As the flames of revolution continued to burn bright, the youth of Mthwakazi found strength in unity and solidarity. Their rebellion was not simply a fleeting act of defiance but a steadfast commitment to upholding the truth, preserving their heritage, and shaping a future where authenticity and cultural pride reigned supreme. It's heartening to see the youth of Mthwakazi taking a bold stand against the Shona Zanufied system of subjugation, repression, and “tribal egotism”. This revolution for self-determination and dignity has finally gained momentum, with the younger generation recognizing the injustices of the past and present. As they unite in solidarity, their rebellion becomes a powerful force, driven by a commitment to truth, heritage, and cultural pride. The flames of revolution burning bright in Mthwakazi are a testament to the growing awareness among the youth of the need to challenge the status quo. By refusing to be silenced or marginalized, they're shaping a future where their authenticity and cultural identity are valued and respected. This is a crucial step towards reclaiming their rights and dignity, and ultimately, achieving self-determination. Tribal egotism refers to an excessive and inflated sense of pride, superiority, and self-importance based on one's tribal affiliation. It involves prioritizing the interests, values, and dominance of one's own tribe over others, often leading to: 1. Discrimination and marginalization of other tribes. 2. Suppression of diverse perspectives and cultures. 3. Reinforcement of harmful stereotypes and prejudices. 4. Perpetuation of social, economic, and political inequalities. In the context of Zimbabwe, tribal egotism may manifest as: 1. Shona dominance and marginalization of Ndebele and other tribes. 2. Favouritism and nepotism based on tribal connections. 3. Erasure or downplaying of non-Shona cultures and histories. Tribal egotism can hinder national unity, social cohesion, and inclusive development and can hinder Mthwakazi learners' education and cultural heritage by: 1. Imposing a dominant culture and language (Shona) in schools. 2. Marginalizing or erasing Ndebele and other local languages, histories, and cultural practices. 3. Limiting access to education and resources for non-Shona students. 4. Reinforcing negative stereotypes and prejudices against Mthwakazi people. 5. Undermining the cultural identity and self-esteem of Mthwakazi learners. A Call to Resistance: Unite for a Brighter Future Unwavering in our pursuit of a more equitable and inclusive education system, we, the youth of Mthwakazi, are prepared to carry the torch of resistance!
