The renowned 3rd-century historian, Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Abbas Faakihi Makki (d. 275 Hijri), dedicated a chapter in his historical book "Akhbaar-e-Makkah" with the title:
*"The Practice of the People of Makkah on the 15th of Sha'ban and Their Striving on That Night Due to Its Virtue."*
He then writes:
"From the past until his time, whenever the 15th night of Sha'ban arrived, the men and women of Makkah would go to Masjid al-Haram, pray Salah, perform Tawaf, and engage in worship throughout the night. They would recite the Qur'an until dawn, completing its full recitation, and offering prayers. Some among them would pray 100 rak‘ahs, reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas ten times in each rak‘ah after Surah Al-Fatiha. They would also drink Zamzam water and bathe with it, seeking the blessings of this night.
There are numerous hadiths narrated regarding this matter.”
