Today, I joined the national stakeholders for the pre-Commission Status of Women (CSW69) meeting held in Nairobi.The next CSW69 conference will be held in New York, USA, from 11th-21st March 2025. The meeting was graced by Hon. Mercy Wanjau, the secretary to the cabinet and emphasized the government's commitment to the fight against GBV and Femicide through law enforcement and legislation. Gender and Affirmative action PS Anne Wang'ombe also said that the CSW69 will be a platform to commemorate the 30 years of Beijing Declaration, where Kenya has made key milestones on women empowerment. They all urged for collaboration in the society so as to curb the alarming cases of GBV, especially Femicide. Also present during the meeting was PS devolution Teresia Mbaika, Maendeleo ya wanawake chairperson Rehab Muia, Dr. Nancy Barasa chairperson taskforce on GBV and Femicide cases, county first ladies, members of parliament among other government officials.
