*2025 UTME: No Extension of Registration Deadline, Says JAMB* The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has ruled out any extension of the March 3, 2025 deadline for the registration of candidates for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this clear on Friday in Lagos while inspecting Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers, emphasizing that the ongoing registration process has been smooth, fast, and efficient. With an expected 2 million candidates, JAMB has allocated a five-week window from February 3 to March 3, with a daily target of 60,000 registrations. As of Friday afternoon, 782,027 candidates had already registered at the 856 accredited CBT centers nationwide, with some days recording nearly 100,000 registrations—the highest in JAMB’s history. Oloyede explained that unlike previous years, this year’s registration has been largely free of technical hitches such as network failures and power outages. “With this seamless process, there is no justification for extending the registration deadline,” he stated. Underage and Non-Admission Candidates While the official minimum age for university admission in Nigeria is 16 years, Oloyede reaffirmed that exceptionally gifted underage candidates are allowed to register if they can prove their capability. He also clarified that candidates who lack their O’Level results but wish to familiarize themselves with JAMB’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) format are permitted to register. JAMB reminded candidates that: Registration can be done at any accredited CBT center nationwide, as UTME is individual-based, not school-based. Candidates should beware of fraudsters and avoid falling victim to extortion. With registration progressing at record speed, JAMB maintains that the March 3 deadline remains unchanged.
