*FUTMINNA Civil Engineering Department Hosts 3rd International Conference on AI in Infrastructure Development* The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure, Process Engineering and Technology (SIPET), Federal University of Technology, Minna, successfully held the 3rd International Civil Engineering Conference (ICEC 2024) on Monday, February 24, 2025, at NITDA Hall, Main Campus. With the theme "Advancing the Frontiers of Infrastructure Development through Artificial Intelligence," the conference focused on AI-driven innovations shaping the future of civil engineering. In his opening remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta underscored the significance of such gatherings in fostering innovation and problem-solving. He commended the keynote speakers for their contributions to academic and technological advancement and encouraged critical engagement throughout the event. The Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Engr. Prof. Mohammed Saidu, welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for their unwavering support. He emphasized AI’s transformative impact on civil engineering, particularly in driving innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Abdulhameed Danjuma Mambo, Head of the Civil Engineering Department and Dean of Environmental Science at Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, highlighted AI’s potential beyond automation, stressing its role in building resilient and sustainable urban infrastructure. Dr. Jacob O. Ikotun, a Senior Lecturer at Durban University of Technology, South Africa, also spoke on AI applications in civil engineering. He detailed how AI enhances infrastructure efficiency, safety, and sustainability, predicting that continued advancements will further revolutionize the industry. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks from the Conference Committee Chairman, Engr. Prof. Mohammed M. Alhaji, who appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, principal officers, keynote speakers, postgraduate students, sponsors, and all contributors for their role in making the event a success.
