I have a deep understanding that patients with diabetes deserve a better life. Today, in many countries we still observe significant disadvantages for patients with diabetes. The pandemic recently has shown us, that life of patients with diabetes can change suddenly. On the other hand, today, we have an ideal opportunity to have a positive impact on patient’s life. Technological development has significantly increased the opportunity for patients with diabetes to live as “healthy” individuals. The development of digitalisation makes patients directly reachable for disease and prevention management worldwide and new pharmacological agents can combine prevention and early treatment and lead to a significant reduction of morbidity and mortality - unfortunately, these developments are not yet available for all patients with diabetes in the world.
