Today we have published our budget for 2025/26 - setting out how we will spend £187m delivering services across the district and £73m on capital projects. We can also announce that we have written to the Government to request Exceptional Financial Support of around £16m. We're one of a growing number of councils who have felt it necessary to do so - and in this video Leader of West Berkshire Council, Jeff Brooks, explains why we have taken this step. In setting our budget we've made changes to a number of proposals we had consulted on following feedback from residents. These include keeping open Downland Leisure Centre, dimming rather than turning off street lights during the early hours and continuing to offer the Adult Respite in the Community Service. You can find more information about our spending plans and watch the full video on our website: https://www.westberks.gov.uk/article/43782/West-Berkshire-Council-announces-spending-plans-for-2025-26
