HOW IS IT DIAGNOSED? There’s no single test for PID, diagnosis is based on a combination of symptoms and physical exams. - Pelvic exams to check for tenderness and abnormal discharge - Swab tests to detect STIs like chlamydia - Blood and urine tests - Ultrasound or MRI scans HOW IS IT TREATED? PID is treated with a combination of antibiotics, for at-least 2 weeks. It’s important to complete your dose even after symptoms abate. For severe cases, hospitalization with IV antibiotics might be required. It’s important to treat sexual partners as well in cases of PID, to prevent reinfection.
