The African Chess Confederation is thrilled to take this opportunity to congratulate the Chess Federation of Lesotho and the Chess Association of Malawi on the several nominations and awards they won during their respective Annual National Sports Awards. The ACC Executive Board is ecstatic to learn that the Chess Federation of Lesotho swept four awards during the Lesotho Annual Sports Awards. Achieving a resounding triumph in the Junior Sportspersons of the Year section with Relebohile Ntsielo and Lebajoa Ts'ephe emerging as the Junior Female and Male Sportsperson of Year Award. The crowning glory was Relebohile Ntsielo also claiming the Sportswoman of the Year Award, culminating the night with both the Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year Award. Also claiming an award was Chess gaffer Moseli Phera who swept the Coach of the Year award as the Chess Federation of Lesotho concluded the night with four esteemed awards. Meanwhile, the Chess Association of Malawi emerged as the winner of the Best Sports Development Program of the Year at the Malawi Annual Sports Awards 2024. The African Chess Confederation seizes this moment to applaud its affiliates, chess players, administrators, and chess parents for these resounding successes, as we are truly beaming with pride.
