In this shot, photographer Gabrielle Guy shares her image of Patrick Senior from Trinidad & Tobago who left the Caribbean 50 years ago to come to the UK. Gabrielle’s take: "The portrait of the man in the mirror was taken in his barbershop (Unique Hair Technique) that he runs with his son Patrick Junior in New Cross Gate, South East London. Their customers come from all over the world, indicated by the currencies on the wall by the mirror. My father and mother have been Patrick’s customers for years and we are from the same twin island republic - Patrick Sr and Patrick Jr from Trinidad and my parents from Tobago. I love shooting environmental portraits around London because if you know where to look you can tell impactful and layered stories about friends, relatives, and clients.”
