At first glance, one would want to ask what has pride got to do with conflict and what connects them with those who take advice? One primary cause of conflict is the fact that each party seem to esteem himself more than the other, and feel the other one should be the one to shift grounds and retreat. We feel it is demeaning and humiliating to apologize or acknowledge mistakes. That right there is pride, and that is exactly the cause of most (if not all) of the conflicts that exist in our world. Ranging from a friend with another friend, community against another, country against country and all forms of conflict at different levels. Those who take godly advice are wise and will heed the guidance of wisdom and evade conflicts. This is why scripture says in Proverbs 15:1 “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” anger will always beget conflict. But calm words and soft answers which are both products of humility will turn away wrath. But for the proud, he’ll always answer harshly, and in his conceit belittling the other party. It is from a place like this statements like “what’s the worst you can do”, “you can’t do more than a dead rat” “do you know who I am?” And many more conflict stirring sayings are birthed —from a place of pride. Therefore, I Wisdom charge you to let go of pride and by love esteem others mor than yourself.
