Shadvarga Or Shodashvarga (Part 1)
Excerpts From The Book Published By Sri B J Rao:
These divisions are good for academic purpose; but for a horoscope they are more a liability than an asset. Reading a horoscope from the natal chart only gives more accuracy, than with the use of Shadvargas and Shodasavargas. The Shodasamsas are shown as shodasavarga charts like the natal chart. That gives a visual illusion of conjunction of planets which are actually posited in different rasis etc. This aspect is dealt with in Navamsa.
With the ayanamsa variation ranging from 0° to 3°20' any exercise of reading the horoscope with the help of shodasavargas is a futile exercise. On the other hand the predictions are bound to be blunders.
To drive home this fact the Shodashvarga for one horoscope 24.7.1930 at 17-57Hrs Vizag for Lahari ayanamsa and Raman ayanamsa are shown. A study of them will show that the vargas are different to a large extent and the Shadbalas also have changed. As per Lahari ayanamsa the star is Andhra ending while as per Raman ayanamsa the star is Punarvasu Ist quarter. Ironically K.N.Rao wrote (Page 34 Yogis, Destiny and the Wheel of Time thus "In Navamsha, Moon in the rasi of Mars aspected by Saturn, is another sanyas yoga" Foot note 6 is "It should be in the birth horoscope or the navamsha or drekkana. "This example proves the ignorance of even in the fundamentals as per the following. Rasi is 1/12th of the Zodiac with 30° extent, where as Navamsha is 3°20' in extent. Hence his expression "In Navamsha, Moon in the Rasi of Mars" is a technical blunder, poor expression due to a confused state of mind.
In Navamsha Saturn cannot and will not aspect Moon for the following reasons.
in the natal chart moon is posited in Leo 0° 06! (Evidently it is be could a cooked up chart to suit his analysis). Which is in Makha Ist quarter and Aries navamsa. The Navamsas and Nakshatra padas. (star quarters) are coterminus. Saturn is in Gemini 15°25' which is in Aridra 3rd quarter and Aquarius Navamsa.
Moon is at a distance of 15 Navamsas from Saturn. There are no houses in Navamsa (108 Navamsas). Hence there cannot be and will not be panstary aspects in Navamsa.
In natal chart Saturn is no doubt aspecting Moon, but not in Navamsa. It is a wrong way of drawing the charts and reading them. K.N. Rao has extended his blurred yision and blunderous imagination to suggest Saturns aspect or for that matter planetary aspects in Drakkana as well. What a fall mother Astrology at the hands of psudo Astrologers? There should be a limit for madness. In page 43, 44 and 45 his ignorance is magnified. He wrote that (1) In navamsha, from the dasha lord, the fifth house has vargotham, atmakaraka Sun, aspected by putra karaka mercury, a highly benefic spiritual combination. *His 1/2 Kg weight book can fetch 2 rupees by weight, but no knowledge.* Can he explain what he meant by what he wrote. I am sure that he cannot. (c) But then see Vimshamsha the twentieth division. Here, Kumbha is the fifth house of Vimshamsa, with Keth, the gyankaraka, associated with the putrakaraka and aspected by Venus and in the fifth from Kumbha there is saturn aspected by moon. All this is absolute nonsense. *There can be no houses, aspects and conjunctions in shodasa vargas except in rasi chart. K.N. Rao is not only shallow, but thinks every one as fools to be taught nonsense astrology.* He jumped from Parasara to Jaimini and so on to suit his convenience of bluff horoscopy. He went on to explain on page 46 about Vimshamsha thus "The fifth house and the fifth lord in Vimshamsha are superb. There is an exchange between the fifth and ninth lords and the fifth house has Ketu as well, with Mercury, who is also the twelfth lord, the salvation given".
All that is unastrological, irrelevant, blundereous and smacks of absolute ignorance of Astrological principals. We need not be surprised if he reads a Hora Chart (1.1.1980 9 PM) as Rahu conjoined with Ketu in Leo, as Sun in Shastastaka (6-8) with Venus in Drakkana and Chaturthamsa Charts, Venus and Sun in samasaptama (Mutual aspect) in Dwadasamsa, again Rahu and Ketu conjoined in Shodasamsa or Vimsamsas, Chaturvimsamaa and other amsa charts. If it suits his story he may forgets that Sun and Venus cannot be at opposite positions, Rahu and Ketu cannot be together as they are always at 180° from each other. He invents houses in all the shodasa (16) vargas. May God save a few hundred students of Astrology who were his students. May God save the people from the Astrologers trained by K.N. Rao and ICAS.
