[IN PICTURES] The leadership of Makana Local Municipality met with officials from the Leningrad Region, which is situated in the Russian Federation in a bid to strengthen relations between the Municipality and Vyborg District. This follows a request from the Lenigrad Region to the Office of the Eastern Cape Premier to facilitate consultations which are intended to lead to the establishment of mutual cooperation between Makana Municipality and Vyborg District. Vyborg District would also like to propose the participation of artists from this Russian City at the National Arts Festival. The meeting took place this morning, 22 February 2025 at the City Hall in Makhanda. The municipality was represented by the Executive Mayor Cllr Yandiswa Vara, Council Speaker Cllr Mabhuti Matyumza and Municipal Manager Mr Pumelelo Kate. The Russian Federation was represented by Russian Consul General, Honourable Mr Aleksei Malenko and Honorouble Ms Kalinina Lidiia. Issued by the Makana Municipality Communications Office.
