Highly Cherished, David could have complained that he was abandoned to the wilderness to take care of the sheep but he didn’t do that. What another person may have seen as bad treatment by his family became his chance for growth and development. Firstly, he used that period to develop his musical ability which gave him the break to be chosen to play for the king. Secondly, he used that situation to gain experience in overcoming vicious enemies by fighting the lion and the bear. That enabled him to win the king’s confidence and be allowed to fight Goliath.
