Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs and can also affect any part of the body.
* It was the leading infectious disease killer in 2023 at the global level;
* Approximately 8.2 million people were newly diagnosed with TB in 2023.TB related deaths were 1.25 million in 2023 globally.
* India is considered the world's TB capital;
* The total TB incidence in India in 2023 was 28,00,000. Deaths due to TB in India were 3.2 lakh in 2023. 75,702 are newly affected exclusively in Tamil Nadu in 2024 so far.
TB is preventable and curable. Yoga can help a lot.
