Manager Job Description
Location: Lilongwe, Central Region, Malawi
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Director
Position Overview
We are seeking an honest and experienced Lodge and Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our small lodge and restaurant. The ideal candidate will foster a welcoming and professional environment to ensure exceptional guest experiences, efficient operations, and the growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Services
Ensure guests receive excellent service and have memorable experiences.
Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
Oversee the reservation system and manage bookings effectively.
2. Staff Management
Recruit, train, and supervise staff, ensuring they deliver high-quality service. Create and maintain work schedules.
Foster a positive work environment and team culture.
3. Operations
Oversee daily lodge and restaurant operations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Manage inventory and supply chain for both the lodge and restaurant.
4. Financial Management
Coordinate with the accountant to ensure the following are carried out:
Develop and manage budgets, financial plans, and forecasts.
Monitor and control expenses to ensure profitability
5. Marketing and Business Development
Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract guests.
Promote the lodge and restaurant through social media and other channels.
Identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.
6. Maintenance
Ensure that the property is well-maintained and in excellent condition.
Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors for repairs and improvements.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a lodge or restaurant manager or in a similar hospitality role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal ability.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work during weekends, holidays, and peak times.
Education
Degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field.
Work Environment:
Typically office-based, requiring the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working odd hours is inevitable due to the nature of the business.
